Paul Schrader’s commitment to artificial intelligence; next film will be made with AI

According to afsanehezendegimedia, citing World of Real, in 2024, Paul Schrader announced that he had written a screenplay titled “Three Guns at Dawn” and wanted Antoine Fuqua to direct it

Set in South Central Los Angeles, the script is about three brothers—a dirty cop, a serial killer, and a drug dealer—who hate each other

Since Fuqua is also a producer, he sold the script to Netflix and asked Schrader to direct it. The problem was that Schrader was afraid of being accused of “cultural appropriation” if he directed a film about three African-American brothers in an all-black neighborhood

Schrader’s original suggestion to solve this problem was to co-direct the film, but he has now revealed in an interview with Deadline that Fuqua is no longer involved in the project and that the film will be made with the help of artificial intelligence

He said: “Antoine is no longer involved. The film was originally called ‘Three Guns at Dawn.’ Now it’s become something different and is being reconfigured. It’s now an AI project”

Schrader doesn’t think like everyone else and is ready to explore AI in filmmaking, recently telling Vanity Fair that he has the perfect script to do it all with AI

“I was just talking to someone today about a script I had and I said, ‘You know, this would be a perfect script to do completely with artificial intelligence,'” Schrader said

He most likely meant “Three Guns at Dawn,” although the name of the film may have changed

Schrader has long been an advocate of AI in filmmaking. He regularly posts AI-generated images of himself on Facebook and has admitted to using AI to come up with script ideas. Now it seems likely that the new version of Three Guns at Dawn was shaped in a similar way
