The secretariat of the ninth course of the Academy of the Legend of Life operated at the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of Gilan, and this course was held with a focus on cultural heritage and cinema

The ninth edition of the International Academy of Life’s Legend ceremony was held, focusing on cultural heritage and its connection to cinema. During the ceremony, seven prominent films of Iranian cinema of the year, the best actor, the best actress, the best cinematographer, and the best foreign-language film of this period were introduced

The secretariat of the 9th International Academy of the Legend of Life ceremony continued its activities at the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Guilan Province. The course was held with a focus on the connection between cultural heritage, visual narrative and cinema

Sajjad Asghari, founder and head of the jury of the International Ceremony of the Academy of the Legend of Life, said about the process of holding this course: “This course was the result of about a year of expert work by the executive team, the jury council, and the cooperation of a group of colleagues in the Secretariat of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Gilan Province. The Academy’s Policy Council also made its conclusions, considering the circumstances surrounding the country’s war, and ultimately the seven leading films of the year in Iranian cinema were introduced, along with the best foreign-language film of the ninth course”

Seven notable films of Iranian cinema this year

Based on the jury’s conclusions, the seven most important films of Iranian cinema this year are:

– “Call Me Beautiful” directed by Rasoul Sadrameli

– “Children of the People” directed by Mahmoud Karimi

– “Highway Deer” directed by Abolfazl Safri

– “Musa Kalimollah” directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia

– “Natur Dasht” directed by Seyyed Mohammad Reza Kheradmandan

– “God of War” directed by Hossein Darabi

– Feature documentary “The Fox and the Pink Moon” by Mehrdad Oskouei

In the Best Actor of the Year category, Amin Hayaei was nominated as Best Actor for his role in the film “Ziba Saadeem Kan” and Merila Zarei was nominated as Best Actress for her role in the film “Musa Kalimollah”

Alireza Barazandeh was also nominated as the best cinematographer of the year for the film “Highway Deer”

“Sentimental Value” won best foreign language film

The film “Sentimental Value” directed by Joachim Trier from Norway was also announced as the best foreign language film at the 9th International Living Legend Academy Ceremony

In the end, Sajjad Asghari, the writer and director of the film “Naghmeh”, thanked and appreciated the cooperation and support of Hamid Reza Azarpour, the executive secretary of the ninth edition of the ceremony, based at the Secretariat of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Guilan Province, and the entire Directorate in holding this edition, and considered this cooperation a basis for strengthening the connection between the fields of cultural heritage and cinema and forming areas of joint cooperation in cultural and artistic events. He also pointed out the connection of the title Academy of the Legend of Life with the Marlik Cup, which is about 3,400 years old, and stated: “This cup also has special importance from the perspective of visual narrative; because its motifs depict a fictional event in the form of four plans; a feature that, from the perspective of the language of the image, has a significant similarity with the narrative in modern cinema art
