According to afsanehezendegimedia and quoted by Variety, “Blue Moon” won the Golden Shell for best film at the San Sebastian Film Festival last night. The film, directed by Romanian Alina Grigor , is the first film by an actress who has entered the directorial field. The film, a realistic study of a young woman who wants to separate herself from rural life, managed to beat out big names in the competition
This is the second year in a row that a female filmmaker has won the top prize at the San Sebastian Festival for her first feature film. Last year, Georgian writer-director Dea Kolombagashvili achieved the feat with her debut film, “The Beginning.” She also won the awards for Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay for her film last year, and this year she was present at the festival as the president of the jury
Meanwhile, Jessica Chastain was one of the big names to win the Best Actress award, for her role in The Eyes of Tammy Faye
But Chastain shared the award with Danish teen actress Flora Ophelia Hoffmann- Lindal for her role in the family drama “Like in Paradise,” which also won best director for Thea Lindbergh
The winner of the Special Jury Prize was French-Bosnian director Lucille Hajihalilovic , who achieved this success for her third film, a surreal and dark story called ” The Earwig “
In the official section, the Silver Shell Award for Best Supporting Actor went to the cast of “Someone’s Stopping Us,” and the Best Screenplay award went to Terence Davis for “Praying for Good.” The Best Cinematography award went to Claire Watton for Seceret
