The winners of the 2020 Venice Film Festival were announced; The Iranians also returned with their hands full

The closing of the Venice Film Festival 2020 was held while “Khorshid” actor Ruhollah Zamani won the best young actor award and “Silent Plain” was chosen as the best film in the “Horizons” section.

According to the film section of the Academy of Arts, the 77th Venice International Film Festival ended last night and two representatives from Iran received awards.

First, the “Horizons” section of the Venice festival recognized its winners. The two films “Careless Crime” directed by Shahram Makri and “Silent Plain” directed by Ahmad Bahrami were the two representatives of Iranian cinema in the “Horizons” section of this festival. In this section, the award for the best film went to “Silent Plains” and this was the second brilliance of Iranians in Venice after Shahram Makri’s award. The award for the best director of this category also went to the famous Filipino director Lav Diaz, who received this award for “Genus Pan”.

The Marcello Mastriani award for the best young actor was given to Rohollah Zamani, the actor of the movie “Khorshid” from Iran, to sweeten the taste of Iranians.

But the most important award, the Golden Lion, the best film of this period of the Venice Film Festival, was won by the film “Land of the Displaced”, directed by Chloe Zhao from America.
