Introducing the films in the Berlin 2026 competition section

The list of 22 films competing in the main competition section of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival has been announced. Among the films that will compete for the Golden Bear and Silver Bears are a first feature, an animated film and a documentary

The list includes works from 28 countries, including 20 films that are being screened for the first time worldwide. Nine films are directed by women and 14 filmmakers have previously participated in the festival, six of whom have previously participated in the competition section

Among the selected films are recent works by filmmakers such as Emin Alper, Angela Şanlık, Karim İnüz, Warwick Thornton, Anthony Chen, Cornel Mundrotzu, Ilker Çatak, and Hannah Bergholm

Among the big names present this year are Amy Adams, Burt Goldstein, Channing Tatum, Gemma Chan, Tom Courtenay, Sandra Bullock, Callum Turner, Riley Keough, Jamie Bell, Elle Fanning, Juliette Binoche, Pamela Anderson, and Rupert Grint

According to the festival director, these works include satirical and formalist comedies, genre films, a psychological thriller, a love story, a story about self-love, animation, and westerns

On February 21, the jury, chaired by Wim Wenders, will announce the winners of the Golden Bear and Silver Bears
