The film “Secret Meeting” or “The Council of Cardinals” by Edward Berger won the Best Film, Best British Film, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing at the BAFTA 2025 Awards
In the final stages of the ceremony, it seemed that “Brutalist” had a better chance, as Brady Corbett received the Best Director award and Adrien Brody won the Best Actor award. Lull Crowley also won the Best Cinematography award for the film and Daniel Bloomberg won the award for Best Original Score
Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez also had a successful night, taking home awards for best foreign-language film and best supporting actress for Zoe Saldana. Director Jacques Audiard and Saldana paid tribute to the film’s star, Carla Sofia Gascon, in their speeches, but made no mention of the media controversy surrounding her
